Complete Guide to Breweries in Dunedin Florida

Welcome to an insider’s guide to the best breweries in Dunedin, Florida. Dunedin is our favorite day trip from St Petersburg, so we have visited each of these breweries multiple times. For such a small town, there are plenty of breweries to choose from and since Dunedin is a small, walkable town, you can travel to most of these breweries on foot. Whether you can get to all 8 in one day is another story, though.

Dunedin House of Beer (HOB)

HOB is probably the most popular brewery in Dunedin. They have an excellent location right off of the Pinellas Trail with a really large outdoor area. While there is some indoor seating, most of it is outdoors. There are over 40 beers on tap which can make it difficult to decide but I always get a peanut butter blonde. It is SO good that I almost never try a new beer when I come here, even though I always promise myself I will.

Dunedin Brewery

Dunedin Brewery is the oldest microbrewery in Florida. They opened in 1995. This is also my favorite brewery for food because they have a full kitchen. You can find sandwiches, wings, and more on their menu. I love their jalapeno style cheese curds. All of their beers are good, but I once visited when they were serving pickle beer. I haven’t seen it make a return ever since my friend and I first discovered it several years ago, yet I haven’t stopped talking about it ever since!

You’re probably more interested in beer you can order, though. And in that case, they have a wide range to choose from. Their beer changes frequently because they make small batches, but you can expect wheats, ales, IPAs, and lagers.

Dunedin Brewery has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They also have live music often but do keep in mind that they are closed on Mondays.

7venth Sun Brewing Company

7venth Sun Brewing Company is located just outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown Dunedin. This brewery is smaller in size than some of the others but they have maximized the space well. The brewery opens toward the street and it is kind of fun to watch the cars go by.

7venth Sun has over 10 beers on tap and they also carry a variety of bottled beers and wines. They have both sours (my husband’s favorite) and IPAs (my favorite) which we appreciate because we can both find something to love. It’s not always easy to find both! 7venth Sun Brewing Company also has some of the most unique beers, especially around Halloween, where they served drafts made with candy such as sour patch kids, candy corn, skittles, and more!

Soggy Bottom Brewery

Soggy Bottom Brewery has a post-Depression theme. If you like porters, definitely try their toasted coconut porter. This is the beer they are most known for. I don’t love porters but even I love this beer. They have great ciders and also carry some guest taps. If you’re not a beer drinker, there is wine available. Soggy Bottom also has good games such as darts and a pool table. Plus large TVs to watch the game.

Woodwright Brewing Company

Woodwright Brewing Company specializes in German style brews such as Hefeweizen, Dunkleweizen, Kolsch, and German Alt. They try to adhere to the German purity laws which only allow the addition of hops, barley, water, and yest. They offer wine as well for non-beer drinkers.

The atmosphere is great, too, surrounded by hand-crafted woodwork that makes you feel like you’re not in Florida. I absolutely love coming here in the cooler months when we can sit outside in their beer garden with string lights.

Caledonia Brewing

Caledonia Brewing is a small batch craft brewery located in a historic building. You can find their small batch craft beers and they also carry some local guest taps.

If there is any sort of festival going on in town (which, in Dunedin, odds are usually pretty good) then Caledonia is usually right in the action! Caledonia’s location is right on Main Street heading into downtown Dunedin. There is plenty of pub-vibe indoor seating as well as some picnic tables on the side porch. They also have a lot of fun events like game nights, trivia, and more. If you are hungry, you can order BBQ from Q Southern Outpost.

For non-beer drinkers, there are plenty of options as well. They offer wine, canned cocktails, seltzers, and ciders.

Cueni Brewing Co

Cueni (pronounced Q-Knee) is located right next to HOB, also on the Pinellas Trail. Both their outdoor and open-air indoor spaces are cozy and inviting. They have a large menu of beers with a focus on English Ales and Belgians. They also have plenty of ciders and some wine to choose from.

Beach Island Brewing (BIB)

As I mentioned above, Dunedin is a walkable town, but you will need a car to get to BIB from the other breweries. This makes BIB a great first or last stop when visiting Dunedin breweries.

Beach Island Brewing in Dunedin Florida is Dunedin’s newest brewery, it just opened in 2021. It is a nano brewery that creates small batches of high quality craft beer. They always have plenty of beer options on their menu and it’s always changing, which I love. For non-beer lovers, they always have a seltzer on tap. I love that they frequently have a beer made with jalapeno, I also love their peanut butter and jelly jager. They don’t carry any food, but they often have food trucks.

We’ve had nothing but great experiences in customer service at every Dunedin brewery we’ve visited, but BIB takes the cake. Their beertenders are so helpful and informative. We’ve visited several times when the owner has been there and he’s been happy to provide us samples, share his suggestions, and give us an overview on how he’s made the beer. The owners take great pride in BIB and it shows.

Whether you’re visiting on a day trip from Clearwater Beach or in town for a week, you’ll find that Dunedin is a must visit for beer enthusiasts. And even if you’re not a beer lover, my guess is you’ll still enjoy yourself at each of these unique breweries. From the craft beers that are brewed with passion to the welcoming taprooms and vibey outdoor areas, Dunedin’s breweries offer a taste of local creativity and community. Whether you’re a resident or a visitor, be sure to explore the thriving brewery scene in this charming town. Cheers to the unforgettable flavors and the camaraderie that make Dunedin, Florida, a must-visit destination for beer enthusiasts!
