What to Pack for Atlantis With Toddlers in 2025

We recently got back from our trip to the Atlantis resort with two toddlers. And while it’s fresh on my mind, I wanted to share my personal experience on what would make the best packing list for Atlantis!

Because honestly, one of the hardest parts of planning a trip is figuring out what to pack. It’s hard not to overpack but we also don’t want to forget anything. Especially if you’re traveling with kids.

This list works whether you are traveling with toddlers or not. But since we were packing with toddlers (a 1.5 year old and a 2.5 year old), I wanted to include that extra information since toddlers add quite a bit to the list when you’re packing for vacation.

In general, you really don’t want to overpack so if there’s something on my list that makes you question it, I recommend leaving it out if you’re comfortable with either not having it or having to pay for it if you change your mind.

In this guide, I’ll break down exactly what to pack for Atlantis with toddlers, so you’ll feel prepared, organized, and ready to soak up every moment without stressing about forgotten essentials.

Travel Documents

Before you get too far, make sure your passport has at least 6 months’ validity remaining. I have heard of people being within 6 months of expiration and getting through customs fine, but it’s not worth the headache.

What NOT to Pack for Atlantis (Because They Have it There)

Now, Atlantis certainly isn’t known for being particularly generous with the things they provide. In other words, it’s expensive and typically they like to try to charge for anything they can (to put it very, very bluntly).

There are Keurigs in the hotel rooms with K cups. If you’re picky about your coffee, you may want to bring your own but we found the K cups to be just fine.

They also provide plenty of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. If you’re picky about your products, though, you may still want to bring your own.

Atlantis also has life jacket stations all around the property. We found the life vests to be a little big for our 18 month old, so you may want to pack a life jacket if you’re traveling with little kids.

The resort also provides beach towels for you.

And one thing not to pack because you won’t be able to use it is your Apple TV, Chromecast, or similar device.

If you’re coming from the U.S., you don’t need any sort of international adapter.

Food

An insulated cup with a lid comes in handy for keeping your morning coffee warm and/or your other drinks cold (like alcoholic beverages or water). This is especially nice if you’re spending a lot of your time at the waterpark out in the sun all day.

We decided to stay at the Reef because all of the rooms have a kitchenette or a full kitchen, which is so nice to have in general but especially with kids. If you’re going this route, you can have your taxi driver stop at a grocery store on your way to the resort to stock up on the basics.

We liked keeping breakfast food in the hotel room so we didn’t have to spend money on eating out for every meal (this is one of my budget-saving tips when visiting Atlantis!)

Clothes

I like to bring more than one bathing suit so that I’m not having to put on a wet swimsuit. This is completely up to you and how minimalistic you want to pack, but I usually bring around 3 pairs because we’re constantly in and out of pools and the beach throughout the day.

You’ll likely be doing a lot of walking, especially if you’re not staying at the Royal Towers. I recommend comfortable shoes and many people also recommend water shoes if you’re going to be doing a lot of the water slides.

Sunglasses are always so easy for me to forget because I wear them in the car on the way to the airport and end up leaving them in the car.

In general, Atlantis is pretty laid back and you can get away with wearing (reasonably) whatever you want. If you want to dress up, you won’t look out of place, but a dress or shorts and sandals are fine. If you want to go to one of the clubs or to one of the fine dining restaurants, you should pack some nicer clothes, though.

You may want to pack a long sleeve shirt/jacket if you’re visiting in the cooler months. It can get chilly in the evenings. It can also be nice to have in the cold restaurants or casino.

Other General Clothes to Pack:

  • Shorts
  • Shirts
  • Swimsuit coverup
  • Underwear and bras
  • Shoes and socks
  • Hat
  • Water shoes if you’ll be wanting to spend a lot of time at the various rides at the water park – it can get hot walking back and forth and also while you’re waiting in line (we skipped this knowing that with two toddlers, we wouldn’t be doing many of the big slides)

Toddler-Specific Items

I prefer to bring rashguards for my kids because it helps with extra sun protection.

Comfort snacks from home. I know I kind of mentioned bringing snacks under the food section above, but with toddlers we found it really helpful to have some snacks on hand that we knew they would like such as dried fruit, pouches, and snack bars.

These cup covers can be really convenient for restaurants and airplanes where places might not have lids on cups. They’re not totally spill proof but it’s definitely better than an open cup.

Water shoes if it will be hot. We visited in early May and it wasn’t overly hot yet, so we didn’t need them. But in the hotter/summer months, we definitely would have wanted them.

Plenty of plastic bags which we use for wet swimsuits and throwing away dirty diapers. If you want to buy something a little nicer for your wet swimsuits, I do like these wet dry bags.

Toys for the room. We do try to bring enough toys to rotate so they don’t get bored of them before the flight home, but having some toys to play with in the room is really nice.

Pool and/or Beach Toys. I almost didn’t pack toys for the pool/beach because I thought that these areas would be enough fun on their own but I’m so glad I made the space for it because it ended up keeping both toddlers busy and entertained much longer than had we not brought them. They do have toys available for purchase at the resort, but they’re much more expensive.

Diapers and wipes if you’re still using them

Sun hats are a great way to have some extra protection

Toiletries

Sunscreen – In general, it’s a good idea to pack more than you think you’ll need. You don’t want to risk a sunburn ruining your vacation and you don’t want to have to buy it there. Like everything, it’s really expensive. If you’re only bringing a carry on, you’ll probably have to buy it at the resort because of the TSA rules on liquids.

Insect repellent – We actually didn’t need this but a lot of people say they did. It’s up to you if this is something you’d want to chance or not!

If you think you might burn, I recommend bringing some aloe vera. We skipped this and didn’t need it.

I always like to throw some band aids in my toiletry bag

Lip balm with SPF

Other General Toiletries:

  • Makeup
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Razor
  • Shaving cream
  • Hairbrush and/or comb
  • Deodorant
  • Ponytails
  • Hair spray
  • Make up
  • Cleanser/other skincare
  • Contacts/glasses if you wear them
  • Feminine hygiene items
  • Any over the counter or prescription medications you need to take often.

Things for Transportation (Stroller and Car Seat)

We traveled with a 1.5 year old and a 2.5 year old. I was also pregnant, so it would have been miserable without our Zoe stroller, especially since we stayed in the Reef which is a long walk from a lot of the things to do in Atlantis.

If you’re interested in purchasing a Zoe stroller, this link will get you $15 off with the purchase of a stroller!

Side note: The Royal Towers give you easy access to pretty much everything at the resort. It’s still a huge resort, but staying there definitely helps you be more centrally located. If you need more help planning your trip/knowing what to expect, I have a whole article on tips and tricks for visiting Atlantis.

With that being said, the stroller paths are not convenient. Multiple times, we had to physically pick up the stroller to navigate a path because they had placed something in the way and the stroller couldn’t fit (and keep in mind, the Zoe stroller is designed to fit inside of a standard doorway).

We now use the wayb Pico car seats since our kids are a little older, but they’re definitely an investment. They only weigh 8 pounds and fold up into a backpack so we love them, but if you’re not going to be traveling a lot with kids, it might be worth looking into other car seat options. Before our wayb Pico car seats, we used the Graco Contender Slim with a car seat backpack which worked just fine.

Definitely bring pens for the airplane ride to fill out the customs forms. It’s much more convenient to show up with the forms already filled out!

Other Things

I recommend bringing more than one method of payment in case something happens to your credit card. We also forgot to bring our debit card (because we almost never use it since we like to rack up credit card points) and were disappointed that we couldn’t pull out cash to gamble.

Even if you don’t gamble, you absolutely want to have some cash. This is how we paid for our taxi. It’s also nice for tipping. And yes, gambling.

Waterproof phone case or a GoPro

If you’ll be traveling during rain season (generally June through November, which is also hurricane season), I recommend a rain jacket or poncho and an umbrella.

Beach bag

Towel clips

Entertainment such as games, books, or movie downloads

Don’t forget your chargers!

A small purse or clutch to carry your things

Snorkel gear or goggles (you can rent snorkel gear there if you want to travel lighter)

Final Thoughts

Hopefully this packing list helped you feel prepared for your Atlantis vacation! A little preparation can help you save money for the more fun stuff!
