Where to Get the Best Breakfast in Anna Maria Island
If you’re wondering where to eat for the most important meal of the day (aka breakfast), you’re in the right place. Finding the best restaurants in a new place can be a little daunting so I’m here to help you out.
Anna Maria Island has some amazing options for breakfast and here are the best spots:
Rod and Reel Pier
Rod and Reel Pier serves has a full breakfast menu but they are famous for their island style french toast (french toast with coconut egg batter) and their seafood omelet. But what’s most special about the Rod and Reel Pier for breakfast is its location right on the pier. It’s a great place to try to spot a dolphin!
What to order: Island style french toast or seafood omelet
Location: 875 N Shore Dr; Anna Maria

Ginny and Jane E’s Cafe and Gift Store
Ginny and Jane E’s is a funky little shop that’s very popular. They are famous for their (huge) cinnamon rolls. They also have your traditional breakfast options and fruit smoothies. You’ll order at the counter then find a spot to sit. It can get pretty busy, so if you can’t find a spot to sit then you have the option of taking your food to go.
While you wait for your food, you can check out their gift shop. They have a little bit of everything from jewelry, clothing, art, and more.
What to order: Cinnamon roll (be warned that they are huge so you might want to share) or one of their breakfast sandwiches
Location: 9807 Gulf Dr; Anna Maria

The Donut Experiment
The Donut Experiment is a donut shop with the freshest donuts I’ve ever had. They are made to order, so you’ll always get a warm, fresh donut! You will customize your donut by picking your donut base, flavor of icing, your own toppings, and then your own drizzle.
If this feels intimidating (because they have so many options to pick from!) then they have some specialty donuts to choose from. Once, they had a key lime pie donut which isn’t typically on their menu and it was delicious.
In complete transparency, we have been here multiple times and have never had friendly service. But their donuts are so good, we keep going back and it is one of my favorite places to visit in Anna Maria Island. I prefer to get a donut as an early dessert instead of for breakfast and if you’re like me, just be aware that they close at 1 pm.
What to order: Make your own donut
Location: 210 Pine Ave, Anna Maria

North Shore Cafe
If you’ve spent much time researching where to eat in Anna Maria Island, then you’ve probably stumbled on a picture of North Shore Cafe. They have a popular mural that visitors love to take pictures with and a great location right on Pine Ave, plus they’re right on a canal.
This is where you want to go for a delicious breakfast that’s also healthy. They serve avocado toast, fruit bowls, and great coffee. They do get pretty busy.
You’ll order your food at a window and they have some picnic tables for outdoor seating. This is a great spot to grab food to go or a coffee to wander around with. While a lot of places serve coffee, there really aren’t true coffee shops in Anna Maria Island, but North Shore Cafe comes close.
What to order: Avocado toast and coffee
Location: 304 Pine Ave, Anna Maria

Waffle Press
Note: The Waffle Press is currently closed. However, their Instagram teases that they may be back so I wanted to include them just in case they make a return (and I hope they do!)
The Waffle Press is a unique spot to grab breakfast. They have waffle sandwiches and baked goods but their signature is their Belgian waffles. They have tons of unique flavors like the Hemingway, which is key lime curd, sweet cream icing, graham cracker crumbles (you know how much I love Key West). You can also make your own with the toppings of your choice. And of course, they serve coffee.
What to order: Any waffle of your choosing, they are all delicious it will be hard to choose.
Location: 425 Pine Ave; Anna Maria
Anna Maria Island Beach Cafe
There aren’t a lot of beachfront restaurants that serve breakfast in Anna Maria Island, but if that’s what you’re looking for then Anna Maria Island Beach Café
is your spot. They have your traditional American breakfasts and all you can eat pancakes.
To be honest, the food isn’t anything over the top or incredibly special but it’s good, traditional breakfast food and they really do have it all. You’re really coming here for the beautiful view that you can’t get anywhere else. They do have a lunch menu as well.
What to order: All you can eat pancakes
Location: 4000 Gulf Dr; Holmes Beach

La Crêperie
For a French breakfast, you’ll love La Crêperie. They serve crepes, quiche, omelettes, and coffee. They serve authentic food that’s made from scratch with fresh ingredients. They have a wide variety of crepe options from salmon to fruit and everything in between. Plus, portion sizes are very generous. They have a nice dining area with books and a lego table for kids.
What to order: one of their crepes
Location: 3216 E Bay Dr; Holmes Beach

Minnie’s Beach Cafe
Minnie’s is a quaint, cozy cafe that serves generous portions of all your favorite breakfast foods. They have friendly staff and you’ll typically see quite a few locals dining there as well. If it’s one of the local favorites, then you know it’s good! They are cash only.
What to order: Minnie’s monster omelette or blueberry pancakes
Location: 5360 Gulf Dr; Holmes Beach

Hopefully my list of the best breakfast spots in Anna Maria Island helped you find a new favorite restaurant and great food. One of my favorite things about going somewhere new is trying new restaurants so hopefully this article helped you do just that.
