Best Beachfront Resorts in the Florida Panhandle
The Florida Panhandle is famous for its beaches. This region is perfect for a laid-back beach vacation. As a whole, the beaches here are somewhat less crowded than the beaches in south Florida, but know that Florida beaches as a whole are popular so this doesn’t necessarily mean that they won’t be busy.
The turquoise water here is an unreal color that I have only seen in the Florida Keys or the Caribbean.
Pensacola Beach
- The Pensacola Beach Resort – A relaxing resort with on-site dining, volleyball courts, and easy beach access. Gulf front rooms have balconies.
- Portofino Island Resort – A high-end resort offering spacious accommodations, stunning beach views, and numerous on-site activities.
Destin & Miramar Beach
- Henderson Beach Resort & Spa – A luxurious resort with stunning Gulf views, a private beach, and top-tier amenities, including a spa and multiple pools.
- Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa – A family-friendly resort with direct beach access, multiple restaurants, and activities for kids and adults.
30A
- Watercolor Inn and Resort – This is a 4-star hotel in Santa Rosa Beach. It’s oceanfront located on 500 acres and all rooms have a view of the sand dunes (higher levels have better views of the turquoise water). The Inn is a mix between a classic, laid-back beach house mixed with modern perks and luxury.
- The Pearl Hotel in Rosemary Beach is not oceanfront but it’s worth mentioning because the Pearl Hotel is iconic. Rooms come with private balconies and it is right in the heart of Rosemary.

Panama City Beach
- SpringHill Suites Panama City Beach Beachfront – Oceanfront property close to the MB Miller City Pier. They have a lazy river, complimentary breakfast, a poolside bar, and a restaurant.
- Holiday Inn Resort Panama City Beach – A family-favorite resort with a lazy river, splash pad, and live entertainment.
- Hyatt Place Panama City Beach – You know that if there is a Hyatt somewhere, I’m going to list it for it’s ease in booking on points. This Hyatt is oceanfront and close to all of the action of Pier Park.
Nature Coast & North Central Gulf Coast
Florida’s Nature Coast doesn’t get as much attention as many other vacation hot spots but I love this little area. It has unspoiled natural beauty, wildlife, and a slower pace. It feels a lot like “old Florida”.
While I recommend checking out this area of Florida, as far as beachfront resorts, there are not many to choose from. There are tons of beachfront vacation rentals, though.
St. George Island
- Buccaneer Inn – The only beachfront hotel on St. George Island with some pet-friendly rooms. This is a no-frills hotel but a nice, quiet place to stay.
Tampa Bay Beaches
If you’re a follower around here, you know I love the Tampa Bay beaches! Note that if you’re not familiar with Tampa Bay that the best beaches are actually on the St Pete side, not in Tampa (Tampa’s beaches are fine, but they are on the bay, not the Gulf). But because the whole area is considered “Tampa Bay”, that’s how I refer to the beaches here.
Anyways, there are tons of different beaches in this area and you can even take the SunCoast trolley between all the little beach towns to check them all out. This area is somehow great for any type of traveler – families, couples, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and solo travelers.
You can have as many laid-back beach days as you want. In fact, many of the resorts here are so incredible that you’d never have to leave them if you didn’t want to. But downtown St Pete is closeby if you want some amazing restaurants, museums, and other things to do.

We’re experts at exploring the beaches in Tampa Bay!
Clearwater Beach
- Opal Sands Resort – A sleek, modern resort from the Opal Collection. Guest rooms have a floor-to-ceiling Gulf view. They also have on site dining and an infinity pool.
- Sandpearl Resort – A perfect hotel for those seeking luxury. There is a world-class spa, excellent dining, and a private stretch of beach.
- Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa – A prime location near all of the action of Pier 60 and restaurants. It also has an outdoor swimming pool on the 8th floor for an incredible ocean view, multiple on-site dining options, a gym, and a spa. Do note that while this resort is oceanfront, there is technically a street in between the hotel and the beach.

The gorgeous coastline of Clearwater Beach lined with amazing resorts!
St. Pete Beach & Treasure Island
- The Don CeSar – Known as the “Pink Palace,” this historic beachfront resort is a Tampa Bay icon with luxury accommodations.
- Treasure Island Beach Resort – An upscale, all-suite resort offering direct beach access and incredible sunset views.
- RumFish Beach at TradeWinds or the Island Grand at TradeWinds – The TradeWinds is a huge resort with multiple pools, restaurants, and tons of activities. Because it’s so big, the walk to the beach can be longer in some areas of the resort. The RumFish section is more upscale while the Island Grand is great for families. Both enjoy the same amenities.
Southwest Gulf Coast Beachfront Resorts
The Southwest Gulf Coast has some pristine barrier islands. These are some of my favorite beaches to visit when I’m not visiting local beaches in Tampa Bay. Our favorites are Anna Maria Island and Sanibel but truly you can’t go wrong with any of them.
Siesta Key and Anna Maria Island
- Tropical Beach Resorts – Please note that this hotel technically is not oceanfront. Oceanfront accommodations in Siesta Key tend to be vacation rentals, not resorts but I didn’t want to leave Siesta Key off the list because we love Siesta Key! This is a charming, laid-back resort that is in walking distance to a more quiet beach in Siesta Key.
- Bali Hai Beachfront Resort and Spa – There are not many beachfront resorts in Anna Maria Island, so this is a true gem. The Bali Hai is beachfront and some of the rooms have full kitchens. There is an on site spa, bike rentals, and a pool.

You’ll fall head over heels in love with Anna Maria Island
Fort Myers Beach
- Margaritaville Beach Resort – A huge resort with an amazing pool in the heart of Fort Myers Beach. The heated lagoon style pool is so amazing that you’ll have a hard time choosing whether to spend your day at the beach or pool. The resort is very large, though, so your room might not be directly on the beach – you may have to cross the street.
- Pink Shell Beach Resort and Marina – A popular beachfront resort with gorgeous views and a nice outdoor pool (they also have a hot tub if you’re visiting in one of the cooler months!) Breakfast is included and all rooms have at least a kitchenette with some rooms having a full kitchen.
- Lani Kai Beachfront Resort – Another popular resort in Fort Myers Beach in a perfect location. It has been completely remodeled since Hurricane Ian in 2022. It’s a fun and energetic spot right on the beach. There are on site restaurants, bars, a nightclub, game room, and a pool. They also tend to have fun activities in the pool area.

Sanibel & Captiva Islands
- Sanibel Island Inn – A great spot on Sanibel island with full kitchens, a pristine beach, and bike and kayak rentals.
- South Seas Island Resort – A sprawling resort with beachside villas, golf, and an on-site marina.
- Tween Waters Island Resort & Spa – A picturesque beachfront property with a mix of history, charm, and modern comforts.
Naples & Marco Island
- The Ritz-Carlton, Naples – A five-star beachfront resort offering elegance, fine dining, and exceptional service.
- JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort – A top-tier resort with multiple pools, world-class dining, and direct access to pristine white-sand beaches. This is an absolutely beautiful hotel!

A sunny day at Naples Beach attracts lots of beachgoers!
Final Thoughts
Each of these resorts comes with modern comforts like air-conditioned rooms and free wifi access. Whether you’re looking for luxury hotels, a charming boutique stay, or good family resorts in Florida, the Florida Gulf Coast has a beachfront hotel perfect for your vacation.
It won’t take long to get from your room at these beach hotels to the white sands and crystal-clear water of the beach! Hopefully this article helped you find your new favorite place!
